Visit Our Sugar Sculpture

If you haven’t made a trip out to the Orlando Science Center in a while I suggest a visit soon. Many are not aware of the massive sugar art sculpture that is on display near the café at the science center. That amazing piece of sugar was actually made by owner and decorator Mercedes Strachwsky.

Mercedes created that piece to represent the state of Florida at the International Cake Exploration Society back in 1997 and was displayed at the Walt Disney World Resort.

It has over 1,000 pounds of sugar. Now’s that’s a lot of sweet! The show piece made such an impression on audience’s that the Orlando Science Center asked to display the piece as a way to educate children and families. It remains in perfect condition today!
